Welcome to My Blog

I have decided to join the blogging world. I will be blogging about things that I have been taught by the spirit in my everyday life through scripture study, church attendance, or life experiences in general.

In order to let you know what this blog will be about, first I will tell you what this blog is not. First, this blog is not a journal of my personal and family life. My wife does a wonderful job of blogging about our family and I keep a separate personal journal. This blog is not about divisive, political or religious topics. These types of blogs are numerous and often do not possess a spirit of love, learning, and spiritual growth. Finally, this will not be a self-help blog.

Things that I will be talking about in this blog are varied, but all come from my own personal learning. I may quote scripture, church leaders, use lessons from church, personal experiences, or non-religious subjects that I have learned spiritual truths from. The purpose of this blog is to be able to record my spiritual impressions in a way that is easily shared in other formats: social media, email, print, etc. I want to be able to read my posts again and have the option to share it with others if I think it is something that will help friends, family, and acquaintances.

The idea for this blog came while reading a General Conference talk from April 2014 by Randall L. Ridd during the priesthood session. Elder Ridd tells us that we are a choice generation because never has their been so many choices open to us in how we spend our time and the things we can accomplish. The part that stuck out to me was when he talked about the use of technology. Technology gives us so many options and the ability to do so many things. He states that "The Lord expects you to use these great tools to take His work to the next level, to share the gospel in ways that are beyond my generation’s wildest imagination." This got me thinking about how I could use technology to share the gospel. I am not always the best at sharing the gospel by mouth so I though that maybe if I started with technology, it might get easier to share the gospel by word of mouth as well. The idea for this blog came into my mind as a way to share the gospel through technology. The idea kept nagging at me so I decided that I needed to put it into action. It feels like the spirit is pushing me to do this and that if I listen to the spirit, I can accomplish the work of the Lord. I am grateful to be a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. I am grateful to know that their is modern day revelation, both personal and for the world as a whole. I hope that this blog will be a way that I can share that revelation with others.
